Tom Gibson is senior
business & technology strategist with extensive experience in technology
management. He is recognized as a conceptual and creative thinker with
the ability to link strategic business direction with technology. Tom
has the rare ability to be a pragmatic visionary.
He is able to bring
a global perspective, having spent 5 years in London building and managing
Morgan Stanley's European technology division. Tom's charter in London
was to build a local organization that could support the firm's rapid
growth, first in London and expanding to opening offices in Frankfurt,
Zurich, Luxembourg, and Milan. The European office was also extremely
active in supporting development in Asia, specifically in Tokyo and Hong
Kong, leveraging London's time zone and international perspective.
In his career with
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, as Greenwich Capital Markets Chief Information
Officer Tom developed departments and organizations from the ground up
as well as managing a wide range of business development initiatives.
This included the turn-around of IT departments, corporate technology
strategies, development of real time front office trading systems, risk
management, disaster recovery plans as well as the design and construction
of new trading rooms. Tom has in-depth knowledge of front office trading
and analytic systems for equity, fixed income, and derivative products,
in addition to re-engineering middle and back office accounting, control
and transaction processing systems.
In addition to his
work in the financial industry, as founder and Chairman of ZStrata LLC
Tom built a business and technology consulting firm that specializes in
the innovative application of technology to developing a firms business.
Tom approaches opportunities first from a business perspective. Technology
then becomes the tool to achieve the company's objectives.
Tom has a proven ability
to identify opportunities for companies to improve their profitability,
products and services through the application of technology. He has conceptualized
and managed the development of online products for Cantor Fitzgerald,
eSpeed, Environmental Brokerage Services and other organizations.
Tom earned his BS
in Computer Science from Hofstra University. An avid runner and golfer,
he lives in Lloyd Harbor, New York with his wife and 3 sons.
