Sean Skilling started
in advertising as a child actor when he was four, became Senior Vice President
at Young & Rubicam's Interactive Group Brand Dialogue, and Director
of Strategic Development at the medical communication company Avenue-e,
a division of Sudler & Hennessey.
He has worked in New York, Singapore,
Hong Kong, and San Francisco. Sean joined Young
& Rubicam New York in 1985 as a television producer creating national
network spots. In 1991 he created and managed a digital video development
lab. His department was hugely successful and Sean began producing, shooting,
and writing videos and commercials for presentations, point of sale, broadcast,
testing as well as developing interactive pieces. He created not only
a profit center but also a stepping-stone into the new world of interactive
marketing for Young & Rubicam. Sean was one of the
original founders of Y&R's interactive group, Brand Dialogue in early
1995. He oversaw the explosive growth of his department from three to
over eighty. He was responsible for development of the strategic direction
of a client's interactive communications. This included consulting on
business objectives, developing new products, business workflow, defining
success metrics and brand stewardship. For Brand Dialogue
he managed client business, oversaw technical and user interface development,
hired and managed the staff and approved their work. Because it was New
Media, he defined the production process and overhauled it twice. He opened
and staffed the Brand Dialogue offices in California, Hong Kong and Singapore
and has won awards for both the content and effectiveness of his writing.
Sean's work developing
the award-winning and groundbreaking "Pfizer for Living" website
led him deeply into the pharmaceutical space. He has a special knowledge
of the restrictions and opportunities that arise from clinical trials,
CME, the FDA, DTP, and DTC. He has designed programs for patients and
professionals, from a speaker's bureau software for psychiatrists to an
independent investigator initiated researcher tool for radiation oncologists.
Sean has been very successful in ensuring the programs he creates seamlessly
integrate and extend traditional media, medical education, patient advocacy
and affiliate marketing.
Sean has developed
projects for the US Army, the US Postal Service, AT&T, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals,
Parke-Davis, Merck, Sony, and many others. He majored in history, English,
and theater at Tufts University. His other interests include Pascal, woodworking,
fly-fishing, Naval history, gourmet cooking, astronomy and gardening.
He has been a speaker at numerous industry events including the Direct
Marketing Association. Sean lives with his wife, daughter, and new son
in a house that desperately cries out for mown grass.
